First Power Tool from Santa!!
Merry Christmas!!
This year it was probably easy to shop for me. All I wanted from Santa was stuff for my house. Things to repair it, decorate it, and love it. And that's exactly what I got. The best was a cordless drill. It's kind of sad how excited I was about it. It will definitely make my life easier when I go to put up frames, shelving, curtain rods..you name it! I also got a really nice butcher block for my kitchen that has a Texas star, love the texan touches :)
Since I've been away for the holidays I'm getting nervous that it's falling apart when I'm away. I guess the neighbors have my phone number so if it crumbles in the meantime, I will have lost a total of $2 in equity I have in the house! Actually thats not too far off I bet since I haven't made the first payment yet.
I bought the first round of furniture from Ashley furniture last weekend. I walked in just wanting to LOOK and walked out with $1000 worth of furniture! I got a dining room table and six chairs and a queen bed. I am finally a grown up with a real bed and not just the frame! WOOO! It will come shortly after the holiday and I cannot wait. My living/dining room will be almost complete by then. Just need the table, some blinds, curtains, and friends to eat with at the table!
Merry Christmas to all!

One Coat, Two Coats, Three Coats, and more!
My great parents painted my huge living room a color I picked out..which turned out to be peach. No offense against peach, but not my favorite color. So I told my small group girls about it and they offered to pitch in and help with the re-painting. It took only an hour and it looks exactly like what I wanted! I am so grateful for their help!
Next on the list is making the living/dining room feel like home. I have a big rug to cover some of the wood flooring. I love the wood but it's not the most comfortable to sit on. Now I just need a cute dining table and chairs and some wall art. Then I will move on to room three to decorate. Not sure which room that is yet but I can't wait!

All Moved In!
I closed, got the keys....and had to wait. No one on House Hunters or any other show on HGTV tells you that you have to wait for the bank to approve the closing docs before you can get in the house. Technically. But I am a rule-follower so I stayed out. But I have been in for about a week now and it feels awesome! My parents came up to help, and honestly I couldn't have done it without them. They worked harder than I did!
I am starting to find little projects to do to make the place sparkle but I need to take it one day at a time. It will get overwhelming and I stress out easily :) Pictures to come when I clean it up a little!

Weekend before Closing
I'm starting to pack all my stuff to move next weekend. This experience so far has been a whirlwind but I am so blessed to be in this situation and able to do this. I had found a house before this one, gotten an executed contract, but then backed out. Lesson learned: when you hear the words "foundation problems" run for the hills! This place had work done but it needed to be re-leveled. I did not want to mess with that, especially since it's my first place. This new house has shown me that I was supposed to leave the first one. It's cute, has character, hardwood floors, and a beautiful yard and deck! I will be posting pictures once I get in the door.
The mortgage process has also been quite interesting. They want EVERYTHING, people. I've had to request paystubs from a previous employer, and even send a copy of my college diploma! Um, if I can bring in a paycheck what does it matter if I didn't graduate! But I obliged and sent it. These banks don't mess around anymore. FHA is more strict than ever and is very particular. But we've gotten the paperwork in and secured a very good interest rate!
